Youth attempts suicide by consuming poison for Maratha reservations

Aurangabad, Jan 20:

The stay on the Maratha reservations were not revoked and during the hearing today, the hearing was extended for two weeks. In this backdrop, a youth out of depression attempted suicide by consuming poison at Krantichowk on Wednesday at around 7.30 pm. The Kranti Chowk police on receiving the information rushed to the spot and took the youth immediately to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The condition of the youth is stable now, informed the police.

The youth has been identified as Datta Kachru Bhokare (28, Shivajinagar). According to the details, Datta has participated in the agitation for the Maratha Reservation. Various government departments have started publishing recruitment advertisements. It was expected that the Supreme Court will cancel the stay on Maratha Reservations and the way for the jobs for the Maratha youths will be open. During the hearing held today, the hearing was extended for two weeks. Hence, Datta was upset and depressed with it and he consumed poison. The petitioner of Maratha Reservation issue, Vinod Patil and the director of the District Bank Abhijeet Deshmukh came to know about it. They immediately informed it to the Kranti Chowk police. PI, Dr G H Darade and others rushed to the spot and took Datta to the GMCH. The doctors treated him while the incident has been registered at the Kranti Chowk police station.
