Youth Congress sends 'return gift' to Smruti Irani, PM

Aurangabad, March 18:

To register protest against BJP-led government and rise in prices of essential commodities, the Youth Congress office-bearers today sent 'return gifts' to the union minister Smruti Irani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi through posts. BJP leaders, including Irani, had sent such gifts to the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to protest against the Congress-led Government regarding the hike in prices during 2012-13.

The office-bearers sent a gift (locally called as 'Aher') comprising bangles and attire (choli-bangli) to Irani and a gift comprising towel and cap to the prime minister. The agitators mentioned the spiralling prices of essential commodities, including petrol, gas, foodgrains, edible oil etc. It had got doubled during the regime of the Modi Government in the past seven years, but the BJP leaders, including Irani, are maintaining silence and not uttering a word on it, pointed out the Youth Congress office-bearers. Hence we sent the return gifts to them.

The speaker of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, Nilesh Ambewadikar, Gurmeet Singh Gill, Vijay Kamble, Akash Ragade, Mayur Sathe and others were present on occasion.
