ZP awaits funding for plateau of flowers, panchayat raj museum

Aurangabad, Feb 4:

After the Zilla Parishad (ZP) gets approval for a new administrative building, Rs 5 crore is required in phases to preserve the main administrative historical building, restore its original splendour and build a museum of the first Panchayat Raj system in the country. Also, the 'Plateau of Flowers' will cost around Rs 2 crore every year. This initiative will give a boost to heritage conservation and tourism.

On Friday, ZP chief executive officer Dr Mangesh Gondawale will give a presentation to the chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and tourism minister Aditya Thackeray on these innovative initiatives.

Dr Gondawale undertook the innovative project of 'Zakas Plateau' with the help of various departments, experts and staff and local villagers. The experts collected seeds of various species of flowers and plants to further enhance the existing natural resources without harming the original biodiversity. Some plantations will be set up in the vicinity of historical places and tourist places. It will cost Rs 1 to 2 crore annually in phases. Also, the historical administrative building of ZP which is more than 100 years old was changed from time to time as per the need. Five crores will be required in phases to restore the building to its original glory, documents related to it, items required for the museum of historical things, various schemes related to Panchayat Raj and construction of the first museum in the country. The ZP has started paying attention to how much funds will be received from the government for this project.

In all, Rs 29 crore will be required for repair of the low head dams in the district. A fund of Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned for the repairs. said Dr Gondawale.
