A 113-run seventh wicket stand between Pant and Washi has put India in command after England had their say in the first two sessions in the fourth test in Ahmedabad. Rishabh Pant slammed a century (101 off 118 balls) to help India take their lead. Washington Sundar is currently unbeaten for the hosts and will try to build a good partnership with Axar Patel. Sundar has also scored a half-century.

Pant's knock was bought to an end by James Anderson, who fell victim to plenty of boundaries by the Indian wicketkeeper. Ravichandran Ashwin and Rohit Sharma lost their wickets before the Tea break to Jack Leach and Ben Stokes respectively. Opener Rohit also missed out on a half-century. Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane were dismissed before Lunch, by Leach and Anderson respectively. Stokes also took the crucial wicket of Virat Kohli before Lunch. Earlier on Day 1, India scored 24 for one in response to England's first innings score of 205.  India are currently leading by 89 runs with three wickets in the kitty.
