The first one-day match between Bangladesh Emerging Team and Ireland A had to be abandoned after 30 overs of action in Chattogram on Friday when a positive Covid-19 test report came in for allrounder Ruhan Pretorius, who was a part of the Irish playing XI. The 30-year-old Pretorius had been tested on Thursday. "We have called off the game after an Irish cricketer was found corona positive but now we will have another round of test and see what can be done,'' a BCB official said. According to Cricket Ireland, the players had tested negative before the game but upon further review of the results, it was found that one player had tested positive.

The rest of the players will undergo another round of testing before the next course of action is determined. "Prior to today's game, both squads received negative results for Covid, and the game proceeded as per protocols. However, a review of results by mid-morning by the local laboratory detected one positive test in the Ireland Wolves squad," stated a Cricket Ireland release. "Play was suspended and the player was immediately isolated ahead of a further test today. "Earlier, Bangladesh Emerging XI had won the only unofficial Test by an innings and 23 runs. The next two one-day games will be played on March 7 and 9 respectively at the same venue while the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium will host the remaining two one-dayers on March 12 and 14. The two T20s will take place at the SBNS stadium on March 17 and 18.
