Former Bangladesh pacer Shahadat Hossain has been suspended for five years for physically assaulting teammate Suuny Arafat during a domestic match. The volatile pacer has also been fined 3 Lakh Takhas. The 33-year old was left fuming when Arafat said he was not capable to shine the ball, which prompted the assault. The fight was witnessed by fellow players and umpires who then informed the authorities about the entire incident. The decision to ban the pacer was taken by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. The tall pacer has a chance to appeal against the penalty by November 26. Speaking about the entire issue, 

Minhajul Abedin, the chief selector who is part of the NCL's committee, said "We have banned Shahadat Hossain for five years with two years of suspended sentence," He can appeal by November 26. He has been reported with a Level 4 offence, based upon which the technical committee took the decision.What he did was very unfortunate. These incidents keep happening. BCB has a zero-tolerance policy for these things. No player will be spared. We have considered his previous history before taking this decision. It should serve as an example for all cricketers."

Hossain who has represented Bangladesh in 38 Tests and 51 ODIs last played for the national team in 2015. This is not the first time the pacer has been in the news on a controversial issue, he was arrested and suspended in 2015 for allegedly torturing his minor domestic help.
