Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave Royals a bright start as the Royals had their best start of their IPL 2021 within the powerplay. The openers got them off to a superb start, but Chahar was the one who claimed the wickets of both the openers. Samson played a fine innings too, but Dube's slow innings took the steam out of the innings. The Royals failed to get going as Jasprit Bumrah made it difficult for the batsman to score in the death overs. The Royals were hoping for a minimum of 180 with the start we got and the wickets in hand. However, Bumrah and Boult with their change of pace did not allow the batsman to settle in. With the boundaries drying up suddenly, Royals missed a trick by keeping Miller till the last.

RR did have a dull phase where the runs weren't flowing smoothly. 100/2 after 12 overs. Royals would have taken this at the start of the innings but it was finish which could hurt the Royals. Chahar was the pick of the bowlers along with Bumrah, after getting rid of Buttler in his first over, he removed  Jaiswal  in his second. Jaiswal played well today but a leading edge resulted in his downfall. Earlier, Mumbai won the toss and opted to bowl, the defending champions  dropped Ishan Kishan. He has had a stellar last few months that even saw him get opportunities in the national side but the youngster has struggled this IPL.  MI will have Nathan Coulter-Nile batting at seven. The Royals went in with an unchanged squad which won against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
