Chris Gayle will represent his old team St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots in the upcomig edition of CPL 2021.  The franchise made the announcement on their official Instagram handle. St. Kitts and Nevis will also be hosting the ninth season of the Caribbean Premier League which begins from August 28 and will run its course on September 19. All the 33 matches of the CPL 2021 tournament will be played at the Warner Park ground. St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots had retained just 9 players before the CPL 2021 player draft. SKT Patriots had retained players like Evin Lewis, Fabian Allen, Sherfane Rutherford, Sheldon Cottrell, Rayad Emrit, Jon Russ Jaggesar, Dominic Drakes, and Joshua Da Silva.

They traded in Dwayne Bravo from Trinbago Knight Riders. Emrit will be captaining the franchise in the upcoming season. The T20 maestro played four seasons for his home franchise Jamaica Tallawahs, winning two titles with them before jumping ship to St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots. He made it to the final in the 2017 with them before returning to Tallawahs ahead of the 2019 season. Before the 2020 season, Gayle made an acrimonious exit from Tallawahs and publicly blamed head coach Ramnaresh Sarwan for it .Gayle's acquisition is a big boost for the franchise, who managed just one win in 10 games to finish last in the 2020 edition. Incidentally, their best performance - a CPL final appearance - came when Gayle was part of their squad in 2017.
