With the playoff chances hanging in balance, Kings XI Punjab ended their 20 overs with 153 runs on the board. The standout performance was from Deepak Hooda who scored his second IPL fifty after five years. Hooda's (62*) blitzfire fifty, with three fours and four sixes, injected some much-needed energy in Punjab's innings after the top-order collapsed after the end of the powerplay. Chennai were really good with the ball. Lungi Ngidi starred with the ball as he registered figures of 3/39.

In the last game of the season, (CSK) won the toss and elected to bowl first against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) here at Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Sunday. In their last meeting this season, CSK sealed a convincing 10-wicket win against KXIP. CSK are coming into this game on the back of two successive wins (most recent first) - against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
