Delhi Capitals have won the toss and have opted to field in the second game at Wankhede in Mumbai. Speaking at toss, Delhi new skipper, Rishabh Pant said, the wicket looked soft.  Steve Smith was not named in Delhi squad, while allrounders Tom Curran and Chris Woakes were handed their debuts. Chennai also handed a debut to Moeen Ali, who was named in the playing XI. The Super Kings had a season to forget a few months back in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Saddled with unfamiliar conditions, age finally seemed to have taken its toll on the franchise.

They finished 7th and it meant changes in the franchise. Shane Watson retired from all forms of the game, he was adequately replaced by Moeen Ali. Krishnappa Gowtham was brought in to off-set the lack of finger spinners and Robin Uthappa was traded in. The biggest boost though was the return of Suresh Raina, back in yellow colours, after leaving the camp ahead of the 2020 tournament. 176 is the average score batting first at this ground. The square boundaries are short on both sides. The Capitals are missing not just Iyer, but the dynamic duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, who are still serving their quarantine period and will be unavailable tonight.
