England's Jason Roy is likely to miss the 13th edition of the IPL to be held in UAE from Sep 19 to Nov 10. Roy, 30, earlier today was ruled out of England's upcoming T20I series against Pakistan owing to a side strain. According to a cricbuzz report, Daniel Sams, the left-arm pacer from Australia will be joining the IPL franchise as his replacement. Roy becomes the second England player at Delhi Capitals who won't be a part of this edition.

Chris Woakes had pulled out of the tournament earlier this year to stay fresh ahead of the England summer. This will be Sams' first time in the IPL. The New South Wales quick made headlines for Sydney Thunder at the 2019-20 Big Bash League where he finished as the tournament's highest wicket-taker. That performance earned him an international call-up for Australia's white-ball tour of England in September. The tour, comprising three T20Is and three ODIs, will be played between September 4 and September 16.
