An improved bowling effort from Sunrisers Hyderabad saw them restrict Royal Challengers Bangalore to 120 after the end of 20 overs. Majority of the RCB batsman struggled throughout with Hyderabad bowlers regularly making inroads into the famed batting line-up.  Sandeep Sharma (2/20) along with  Rashid Khan (1/24) were instrumental in restricting Bangalore to a lesser run rate. RCB failed to gather momentum in their innings. Josh Philippe (32) and AB De Villiers (24), the highest scorers in the innings, fell in quick succession in the middle overs.

RCB have 7 wins to their name from 12 matches and occupy a place in the top half of the points table. On the other hand, SRH, are on the sixth spot in the standings, having registered 5 wins from 12 games. A loss for Sunrisers will see them eliminated from the competition and loss for Bangalore will see them affect their NRR , resulting in their elimination if other teams on 14 points have higher run rates. Mumbai Indians are the only team who have assured themselves a playoff spot
