In the season opener of the women's T20 challenge, Velocity restricted defendng champions Supernovas to a small total of 126 at the end of 20 overs. Ekta Bisht picked two wickets in the final two ball as Supernovas failed to gather any momentum in their innings.  Bisht proved once again why the left-arm spinner is rated higly in women circket circles. The powerplay overs are going to be crucial for both sides as the Supernovas aim to get crucial breakthroughs.

Earlier, Velocity  won the toss and chose to bowl against Supernovas in the first match of the Women's T20 Challenge at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Velocity captain Mithali Raj said that she expects it to be easier to chase in the second innings, considering the conditions on offer. Supernovas skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, on the other hand, said that they were not dependent on the toss and would have been fine with either of the scenarios.
