Team India and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper had a disaster outing n the IPL 2020 clash against Kings XI Punjab. Kohli  dropped two catches of KL Rahul who went on to blast 132, the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in the history of the IPL. With the bat, Kohli fell for just one run as he top-edged a short ball from Sheldon Cottrell to be caught. Royal Challengers Bangalore lost the match by a massive 97 runs, 23 runs alone to KL Rahul’s bat.

However, the poor performance from Virat Kohli has resulted in some massive controversy. This involves a statement made by former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar while on commentary duties. When Kohli was dismissed, Gavaskar came up with a surprising comment involving Anushka Sharma, Kohli’s wife. The former skipper remarked, “Inhone lockdown me to bas Anushka ki gendon ki practice ki hain". (Virat Kohli has only trained against Anushka’s balls during the lockdown)The comment did not go down well with many people on social media, with some urging the BCCI to drop him from commentary duties.

After the end of the match, Kohli took full responsibility of the defeat to the Kings XI Punjab side. “I have to stand in front and take the brunt of it, not the best day in the office, couple of important chances of KL when he was set and that cost us 35-40 runs at a later stage. Maybe if we restricted them to 180 we wouldn't have been under pressure from ball one of the chase. We know exactly where we went wrong and I have to put my hand up and say a couple of important chances went down. There are days when these kind of things happen on the cricket field, they happen and we have to accept them,” Kohli said.
