Former India pacer Tinu Yohannan has been named the new coach of the Kerala Ranji squad replacing Australian and former 1996 World Cup winning coach Dav Whatmore. The decesion was taken by the KCA today in a video-conference. The 41-year-old had a brief stint as coach of the Kerala team after P Balachandran was sacked in the middle of the season in 2016. 

Whatmore resigned after Kerala were relegated to the Plate Division of the Ranji Trophy, the country's top-tier domestic tournament. Tinu who has been part of Royal Challengers Banglaore team in 2009 and represented India in 3 e Tests and as many One-Day Internationals. Tinu made his India debut in 2001 against England in Mohali. The lanky pacer retired in 2009 after being sidelined by the Indian selectors.
