Former cricketer Robin Morris and a few others have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a loan agent from a restaurant near Kurla station. Morris who has played few T20 matches and List A matches for India was previously in the news for his role in match-fixing. According to a report in Indian Express Morris wanted a loan of Rs 3 crore a few years ago. He got in touch with the complainant through a mutual agent. The loan agent demanded a processing fee of Rs 7 lakhs as commission for getting the loan sanctioned, and after an agreement between the two, Morris handed him the commission amount. 

Senior police inspector Dattatrey Shinde said, "The complainant took the commission but failed to provide Rs. 3 crore loan sanction to Morris. The former cricketer had been asking him to return the commission since more than a year. According to reports, the agent managed to give 5.5 lakh but was delaying in returning the rest. Eventually Morris along with his friends decided to call him to a hotel and forcefully took him to Versova.  

Morris and his friends forcefully took him to Versova and demanded the agent's family members to return the pending amount. The family then approached the police following which a case was registered. Apart from Morris, the other accused were identified as Granville D'Silva, Ahmed Ali Ansari, Alex Miranda, and Rupesh Bhimanna. All the accused were booked for kidnapping, wrongful confinement, and criminal intimidation.
