Former India cricketer and Delhi stalwart Gautam Gambhir is all set to buy a stake in IPL franchise Delhi Capitals. It is learnt that Gambhir has been talks with the GMR Group which owns 50% stake in the team. According to reports, the cricketer turned politician is planning to buy a 10% stake in Delhi capitals for which he has to pay a certain amount. The deal is almost confirmed and only a few formalities need to be worked upon.
Gambhir started his IPL journey with Delhi in 2008 and was later part of Kolkata Knight Riders. Under Gambhir's leadership KKR won two titles. A year before last he returned to Delhi in a effort to revive their fortunes but was replaced by Shreyas Iyer in the middle of the tournament. Delhi Capitals in the transfer window acquired Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane with aim to win their first ever IPL title.
