Glenn Maxwell was roped in by Kings XI Punjab last year for a whopping Rs 10.75 crore but he turned out to be a huge flop and was released ahead of IPL 2021. Now, Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore has brought the all-rounder for 14.25 crore. Maxwell's reputation of being a game changer precedes his IPL stats on auction days. Barring a couple of seasons where he was ultra successful, he has been rather cold in the IPL. He, however, still attracted big bids due to the sheer power he possesses to take games away from the opposition in a matter of time, as was seen in the limited-overs series when India had toured Australia.

KXIP had high hopes from Australian dashing batsman Glenn Maxwell and backed him in IPL 2020 but the Australian batsman failed to repay the faith shown in him by the team management. He ended IPL 2020 with only 108 runs averaging a pathetic 15.42 and three wickets from 13 games. Despite his flop show in IPL 2020, the all-rounder was chased by Rajasthan, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore.
