Kings XI Punjab all-rounder has finally broken his silence on the negative criticism that has been going around after his dismal show in Dream 11 IPL 2020. Making his comeback at Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) after being bought for Rs 10.75 crore, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell had a forgettable season and he only managed 108 runs off 106 balls he faced. With the ball, the Australian only scalped 3 wickets in 21 overs he bowled. While KXIP's Director of Cricket Operations, Anil Kumble, and captain, KL Rahul, didn't blame Maxwell for the team's poor form, Virender Sehwag, KXIP's former Director of Cricket, had taken a jibe at the Australian.

Speaking on his show, Viru ki Baithak, Sehwag had called Maxwell as a '10 crore cheerleader' and said: “Glenn Maxwell. This 10 crore cheerleader proved very costly for Punjab. His IPL routine for the last few years has been of shirking from work but this season he broke that record as well. This is what you call a highly paid vacation.

”Reacting to Sehwag's jibe now, Maxwell has opined that the former India cricketer is outspoken and that he (Sehwag) dislikes him. “It’s ok. Viru is pretty outspoken with his dislike of me, and that’s fine. He’s allowed to say whatever he likes. He’s in the media for such statements, so that’s fine. I deal with that and move on, and take it with a grain of salt with Sehwag,” Maxwell told The West Australian. Sehwag and Maxwell worked at KXIP from 2014 to 2017. In IPL 10, Maxwell was appointed as KXIP's captain but the team once again failed to reach the second round. KXIP released their captain R Ashwin after IPL 2017 while they also parted ways with Sehwag after IPL 2018, where KXIP once again failed to qualify for the playoffs.
