Opener Shikhar Dhawan missed out on scoring a century in the first ODI match being played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. Shikhar Dhawan may not have scored a century but India has reached a strong position against England, batting first.

Dhawan started his innings at a very slow pace. After playing over 10 overs, Shikhar Dhawan started shooting shots. Shikhar Dhawan teamed up with Rohit Sharma and then with Virat Kohli to get the team out of trouble.

Ben Stokes got Shikhar Dhawan caught by Eoin Morgan for 98 off 106 balls. Short delivery on middle, Dhawan pulled it uppishly towards mid-wicket where Morgan took a simple catch. Dhawan hit 11 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. This is the 5th time he has been dismissed in the 90s in ODIs.
