Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Match No 3 of IPL 2021 on Sunday. Prasidh Krishna returned with the figures of 2/35 while Shakib Al Hasan, Pat Cummins and Andre Russell picked up a wicket each as SRH were restricted to 177 for 5. SRH left themselves with too much to do towards the end. Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey stitched a crucial partnership to give Hyderabad a glimmer of hope. The wicket of Bairstow from Cummins was the defining moment that turned the balance decisively towards KKR.
Earlier, David Warner won the toss and have opted to bowl first. Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi scored their respective half-centuries as Kolkata Knight Riders posted 187 for 6 after being asked to bat first. Rana slammed his 12th IPL fifty and top-scored with 80 off 56, including 4 sixes and 9 boundaries. Rahul Tripathi scored a 29-ball 53 before losing his wicket to T Natarajan. SRH made a fine late comeback with Rashid Khan leading the way with figures of 2/24. Mohammad Nabi also took two wickets for 32 runs.
