Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has been ruled out of the two-match Test series against Pakistan owing to a thumb fracture.Tamim started the net session last week to prepare for the Test series but went for an x-ray as he felt uncomfortable while batting against pace bowlers. The left-hander will now see a specialist overseas. He was eyeing a comeback during the Test series but new scans have revealed that the opener now has a new fracture on his broken thumb.

Tamim, who last played for Bangladesh in an ODI match against Zimbabwe in July, had missed the entire T20 World Cup for the Tigers after he sustained a knee injury. The left-handed batsman opted out of the tournament in order to give chance to the young guns like Mohammad Naim and Liton Das. Bangladesh are scheduled to play three T20I matches against Pakistan before they take them in the two Test matches. The tour starts on November 19 with all the T20I matches being played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. The first Test match will be played between November 26-30  in Chattogram followed by the second Test in Dhaka starting on December 4.
