Team India will be getting a new captain as Virat Kohli announced that he will step down as captain of the T20 team after the World Cup.

Former cricketer Ashish Nehra also expressed his views on who should be the next captain of the Indian cricket team.

His answer has shocked everyone he said, "India's T20 team should be given to Jasprit Bumrah. He is the only player to play in all three formats for Team India. On the other hand, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant have to sit out in one format or another".

"Apart from Rohit Sharma, we are hearing the names of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul. Pant has travelled around the world, carried drinks, and was even dropped from the team a few times, he said.

Rahul was recalled to the Test side after Mayank Agarwal got injured. As Ajay (Jadeja) said, he (Bumrah) understands the game quite well. He is also in the playing XI in all formats. It's nowhere written in the rule book that pacers can't be captains," Nehra said during a discussion on Cricbuzz

According to reports KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma's name is coming forward for the next captain but BCCI hasn't made an official announcement yet.

T-20 has started in the United Arab Emirates, India played against Pakistan on 24 October and lost the match. It is the last tournament for Virat Kolhi as a captain but he cleared that he will continue to play as a player.

Virat had tweeted the letter on Twitter. In it, he made it clear that he had made this decision. Kohli had said that the decision was taken after discussions with BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jai Shah, coach Ravi Shastri, and teammate Rohit Sharma.

This had to be done considering the workload of the last eight-nine years. For the last 5-6 years, I have been taking the lead in all three disciplines on a regular basis. I decided to play T20 cricket as I felt I needed to give myself more space to fully lead the ODI and Test teams, he added.
