T20 World Cup: Is MS Dhoni brought in to handle dressing room rift between players and Virat Kohli?

It is clear that not everything is going well in the Indian cricket team. The rift between captain Virat Kohli and other players in the team is slowly coming to the fore. Every day new things are coming up. All these controversies were already known to the BCCI and hence the Twenty20.

BCCI sources told InsideSport.co that Mahendra Singh Dhoni will not be responsible for guiding the team. More importantly, he wants to keep the players in the team together. There are disputes in the dressing room and so the BCCI is concerned.

Later in the final of the World Cup, Virat Kohli came into the dressing room and started questioning Cheteshwar Pujara and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. Ajinkya has lodged a complaint with BCCI Secretary Jai Shah in this regard.

A month after the incident, rumors started circulating that Virat Kohli would step down as captain. The BCCI denied the allegations, but within a week, Virat announced that he would step down as captain of the Twenty20 team after the World Cup.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has selected former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as its mentor. Dhoni has been selected to bridge the growing gap between the players and keep the atmosphere in the dressing room happy. Every player in Team India's dressing room, including Kohli, is Dhoni.

Under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India lifted the 2007 Twenty20 World Cup, the 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups, the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy. His records are incredible. Therefore, he should be with the team as a mentor in the Twenty20 World Cup.

"He has a special place in the team and everyone respects him. Appointing him as a mentor does not mean underestimating anyone. Everyone has done an incredible job, "he explained. At the same time, he was relieved of the captaincy by the board.

If Virat Kohli fails to win the Twenty20 World Cup, he may resign as captain of the Test team along with the ODI team in the future.
