The Board of Governors (BoG) of the Pakistan Cricket Board met on Saturday to arrive at the decision of resuming the 2021 season of PSL from June 1. All 20 games will be played in Karachi with the final on June 20. The tournament was postponed on March 4 due to rising covid-19 positive cases within the bio-bubble set up by the PCB. Only 14 matches were played at that point. The teams, support staff and all those who will return to the PSL bio-bubble are to undergo a strict seven-day quarantine in one hotel from May 22. At the end of that, teams will be allowed training sessions for three days before the season resumes.

A two-person fact-finding panel set up by the PCB to review the bio-security protocols that came under severe criticism gave a presentation and an update to the BoG during a virtual meeting on Saturday. The report included recommendations on how to better ensure the implementation of a bio-secure environment in the future. As per an official PCB release, the BoG endorsed all recommendations of the fact-finding panel, including robust and stringent implementation of the protocols, as well as maintaining a zero-tolerance approach towards all those who breach the Covid-19 SOPs, which are put in place for safeguarding the health and safety of all participants. In the aftermath of what happened in March, the PCB is now on the verge of appointing a safety management company to provide Covid-safe technology solutions, bio-secure monitoring & management, as well as response and reaction to positive tests.
