Rajasthan Royals have called fast bowler George Garton of Sussex for a trails ahead of the IPL 2020 auction to be held in Kolkata on December 19. A left-arm fast bowler Garton was the leading wicket-taker in Abu Dhabi T10 League with 13 dismissals which earned him the Bowler of the Tournament Award.
Speaking about the same the youngster said, "It's obviously an amazing opportunity and I'm very grateful to be given the chance to go over there and show them what I can do," "The IPL is the biggest franchise T20 competition in the world so to have interest from a team like Rajasthan is a big confidence boost and I'm very excited to get out there," he added. He has played 24 List A matches and picked up 29 wickets from them, with the best bowling figures of 4/43. In the T20s, Garton has an economy rate of 8.77, and has picked 11 wickets. The 2008 IPL champions released 11 players ahead of the 2020 auction and traded their former skipper Ajinkya Rahane to Delhi Capitals. The Royals management also appointed Andrew McDonald as their new head coach replacing their previous coach Paddy Upton.
