Former Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath and South Africa batsman Ashwell Prince have been appointed as their spin-bowling and  batting consultant respectively. Herath will join the Bangladesh coaching team in Zimbabwe and will be in the role until the end of Bangladesh's campaign in this year's ICC Twenty20 World Cup. BCB stated that Prince has reached an agreement with the BCB to work with the Bangladesh batsmen for upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. At this point, getting a coach is very difficult due to Covid, so we have picked them on a short-term basis and if we find them satisfactory, we will continue with them,'' BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan told reporters on Saturday. ''Prince was a good batsman and we have spoken with our head coach (Domingo) before including him in our set-up. If the players like Herath and we are happy certainly we will think about him beyond the T20 World Cup' he said.

Herath and Prince are both on their first international assignments. Prince, the former South Africa batter who retired from international cricket in 2014, has coached the Cape Cobras since 2016 while also serving as a selector with CSA. He has also been South Africa A's interim head coach and batting consultant. This is Herath's first major coaching role since the Sri Lanka spinner retired from international cricket in 2018, having taken more Test wickets than any other left-arm bowler. He has completed his Level 3 coaching course (ICC/SLC) with a specialisation in spin bowling. Herath, the most successful left-arm spinner in the history of Test cricket has taken 433 wickets.  Prince has been capped 119 times by South Africa in the three formats. The 44-year-old is also a Level 3 coach.
