In a big blow, ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the remaining test Border Gavaskar trophy with a thumb injury. Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 37-ball 28- an innings which included five boundaries- but in the process of doing so, he suffered an injury blow after he was struck on his left thumb by a Mitchell Starc bumper. Jadeja did not take the field in Australia’s second innings and was taken to the hospital for further scans. According to PTI, Jadeja is likely to be ruled out of the final Test in Brisbane, starting January 15, after sustaining a left thumb dislocation and fracture. However, Pant’s elbow injury is judged to be not serious and he will probably be available for the ongoing Test.

Apart from Ravindra Jadeja, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant also did not take the field on the third afternoon after he suffered a blow on his left thumb by a Josh Hazlewood bouncer while batting. He too has also been rushed to the hospital for scans. Out of form wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha behind the stumps in the second innings. Talking about Pant's 36, he looked good and stitched an important 53-run stand with Cheteshwar Pujara (50), for the fifth wicket, before India slipped from 195-5 to 244 all-out. Coming into the Sydney Test, India had lost Ishant Sharma (before the series started), Mohammed Shami (forearm), Umesh Yadav (calf muscle), and KL Rahul (wrist) to various injuries. Virat Kohli is on paternity leave.
