Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 97-runs in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 match, at the Dubai International Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). KXIP set a 207-run target. RCB captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field. KXIP reached 206/3 after 20 overs, with KL Rahul reaching a smashing 132-runs off 69 balls (not out).

RCB fell to pressure from KXIP bowlers, with Virat Kohli, Aaron Finch and AB de Villiers not being able to have an impact. Ravi Bishnoi was the star bowler for KXIP with three wickets, after Sheldon Cottrell and Mohammed Shami gave a dream start to KXIP. Virat Kohli was dismissed for 1 by Cottrell and this after he and Mohammed Shami had removed Devdutt Padikkal and Josh Philippe in the first two overs of the innings. Rahul also became the fastest Indian to reach 2000 IPL runs, breaking a Sachin Tendulkar record. In their next match, KXIP face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on September 27. Meanwhile, RCB face Mumbai Indians (MI) on September 28.
