Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj have complained about facing racial abuse  from the crowd at the Sydney Cricket Ground during the third Test.  It is learnt that the abuse had occurred over the second and third day of the Test match as per a Cricbuzz report. This led to India captain Ajinkya Rahane and off-spinner Ashwin Ravichandran, along with Bumrah and Siraj, having a word with umpires Paul Reiffel and Paul Wilson and security officials at the SCG. It has also been reported that there was a chat between ICC security officials and members of the Indian contingent.

The Indian team management has lodged a complaint on the entire issue. Earlier, incident of racism that has emerged during the India-Australia series. In 2007, Andrew Symonds and Harbhajan Singh were caught in a similar incident, where the latter was accussed of calling Symonds a monkey. The tensions had then heated up between the two sides both on and off the field. The Indian off-spinner was also handed a three-Test ban but he was eventually cleared of the charge and the ban was overturned.
