Two time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders are likely to miss the services of India opener Shubman Gill for the second leg of IPL 2021 to be held in UAE. Gill who suffered a shin stress fracture after the World Test Championship (WTC) final may be out of cricketing action for at least three months. The opening batsman has already been ruled out of  the upcoming Test series against England. According to a report in Inside Sport, the stress fracture could keep Shubman Gill out of the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well. 

If indeed that happens, it could be another huge blow for Kolkata Knight Riders, who already will be dealing with the absence of skipper Eoin Morgan and star pacer, Pat Cummins, who is also likely to miss the remaining matches. In another report in Cricbuzz, it is said that BCCI has asked Shubman Gill to return home.The young opener, who has been in news lately for stress injury to his shins, has been ruled out for the five-Test series against England, starting August 4, and the BCCI wants him to return back home. There is, however, no news of a replacement as of now or when Gill is expected to fly back.India will lock horns against the hosts England starting August 4 in a five-match Test series, which will also kick-off the World Test Championship's next cycle from 2021-23.
