Former skipper and  BCCI President Ganguly has significant blockage in 3 arteries, though his condition remains stable post surgery as per latest reports. Sourav,  had a light dinner hours after undergoing coronary angiography at 3 pm on Saturday at a private hospital in Kolkata. The authorities at Woodlands Hospital said around midnight on Saturday that percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCS) and stenting in his right coronary artery was done through the radial route. Revasculation to the left anterior descending artery and obtuse marginal artery will be done later. Doctors will decide on Monday how to treat these. The authorities said there is a history of heart disease in Ganguly’s family. Dr Rupali Basu, MD and CEO, Woodlands, said in a statement on Saturday midnight that Ganguly arrived at the emergency department around 1 pm. He had discomfort in the chest and had vomited while working out. The ECG report showed acute inferolateral wall myocardial infarction and echocardiography pointed at mild inferior wall hypokinesia.

Ganguly also tested negative for Covid-19. Bharatiya Janata Party leaders also inquired about Ganguly’s health. BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said Union home minister Amit Shah told state BJP leaders that the Centre would make available all facilities required for Ganguly’s treatment. Treating doctors are keeping constant vigil on his health situation and taking appropriate measures from time to time. After attending the BCCI AGM recently in Ahmedabad, Ganguly had returned to Kolkata and visited Eden Gardens earlier this week to discuss the preparations for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy - India's domestic T20 competition - with Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Avishek Dalmiya and secretary Snehashish. Kolkata is among the six cities that will host the league stage of the SMA Trophy starting January 10. Ganguly, who captained India from 1999 to 2005, took over as the BCCI president in October 2019 after the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) left the board following a period of 33 months. Ganguly has since then been credited for making India play their inaugural day-night Tests, against Bangladesh at his home ground Eden Gardens, and announcing the introduction of a contacts system for first-class cricketers in India.
