The wretched form of the Sunrisers Hyderabad continued in the 14th edition of the IPL as the 2016 champions suffered a 12 run loss in Chennai. Mumbai managed to choke the Sunrisers  in the second half. SRH got off to a blistering start through Bairstow and Warner too got a start. It seemed a cruise for the first 6-7 overs of the game but as has been the norm in recent games, SRH started losing the plot to the older, softer ball on a slow deck. 

Rahul Chahar dismissed Manish Pandey for 2 which pecked the Sunrisers back. Bairstow was dismissed hit wicket in Krunal Pandya's over. Kieron Pollard smashed 35* runs in 22 balls to help MI reach 150/5 in 20 overs. It was a difficult batting pitch. in which Mujeeb Ur Rahman picked up two wickets of Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock, the latter getting dismissed for 40. Vijay Shankar also picked two wickets dismissing Suryakumar Yadav and captain Rohit Sharma for 32. Khaleel Ahmed picked solitary scalp of Hardik Pandya.
