Sydney Sixers won their third Big Bash title, as they defeated Perth Scorchers by 27 runs in a dramatic final. Put in to bat by Perth Scorchers, the Sixers made a cautious start and a terrible mix-up between the two openers James Vince and Josh Phillipe led to the dismissal of the latter in just the fourth over of the match. The Sixers played cautiously after that, scoring only 60 runs off the first 7 overs, but after that it was the James Vince show.

He scored a fifty off just 31 balls and went on to score 95 off 60 with 10 fours and 3 sixes in the innings. The second-highest scorer for Sixers was Daniel Christian with 20 runs, that was the difference between Vince and all the other players in the Sixers innings. James Vince narrowly missed out on a century but was the star of the show for the Sydney Sixers. The Scorchers' bowlers were not at their best, with the exception of Fawad Ahmed, who didn't get to finish his quota.  Notably, Sixers were also the winners of the previous season and became the second side after Perth to successfully defend their title.
