KL Rahul has angered cricket fans with some tongue-in-cheek comments about David Warner’s injury. With fans holding their breath, a number were angered by Rahul’s cheeky remarks that he hopes Warner is ruled out for a long time. “I don't know how bad his injury is but it’d be nice if he gets injured for a long time,” Rahul said after Sunday’s game. “I wouldn’t wish that for any cricketer. But he’s one of their main batsmen, so if he’s injured for a long time it’d be good for our team.”
Warner limped off the SCG during the second ODI against India on Sunday, with scans revealing a serious injury. Warner will replaced in the squad by D’Arcy Short, but no call has been made yet about his availability for the first Test which starts December 17.Some labelled Rahul’s comments “despicable” and “terrible sportsmanship”. This is not the first time KL has landed in trouble for his controversial remarks. The Kings XI Punjab skipper found himself in the eye of a massive storm following his appearance on popular TV show, Koffee With Karan. The cricketer along with Hardik Pandya made some sexist and racists comments. While fans slammed BCCI for allowing the two cricketers to appear on the show, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) had suspended Rahul and Hardik for their unwanted comments. The controversy didn't have an impact on their friendship as Rahul and Pandya are best buddies on and off the field. They have been spotted together on a number of occasions.
