Two time World Cup winner, Yuvraj Singh has found himself in the centre of a new controversy after the former all-rounder made some disrespectful comments against Dalit society during an Instagram discussion from 2020. The case was registered against Yuvraj Singh on Sunday in the Hansi police station of Hisar. Police have registered the FIR under Sections 153, 153A, 295, 505 of IPC, besides sections 3 (1) (r) and 3 (1) (s) of SC/ST Act. For the unversed, Yuvraj allegedly made the 'casteist remark' during an Instagram live session with India opener Rohit Sharma in June 2020. The World Cup-winning former all-rounder had issued an apology, saying he never believed in disparity. Yuvraj had made the remark when talking about India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal's TikTok videos, Yuvraj had said: "Yeh b***gi log ko kaam nahi hai yeh Yuzi aur isko (Kuldeep).""Yuzi ko dekha kya video daala hai apni family ke saath. Maine usko wahi bola ki apne baap ko nacha raha hai, pagal toh nahi hai tu," Rohit replied.

The complaint was lodged  by a Dalit activist Rajan Kalsan. The complainant also alleged that the remarks were meant to provoke the community in an attempt to create unrest hurting social sentiments of the country. "I request you to press appropriate charges against Yuvraj Singh and arrest him," the written complaint to Hisar police read. Soon after facing outrage over the incident, Yuvraj Singh had issued a public statement expressing regret over the statement. The former Indian all-rounder had also added that he has never believed in disparity on any basis. "This is to clarify I have never believed in any kind of disparity, be it on the basis of caste, colour, creed or gender. I have given and continue to spend my life for the welfare of people. I believe in the dignity of life and respect each individual without exception," Yuvraj Singh said in his post. "I understand that while I was having a conversation with my friends, I was misunderstood, which was unwarranted. However, as a responsible Indian I want to say that if I have unintentionally hurt anybody's sentiments or feelings, I would like to express regret for the same."
