Aankhen (2002) featuring megastar Amitabh Bachchan in a never-seen-before role along with other stars like Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Sushmita Sen and Paresh Rawal, was first of its kind when it released 19 years ago. The the film went on to become one of the biggest hits upon its release. After the film's stupendous success a sequel to the film was being put together for nearly four years had finally found its leads in Amitabh Bachchan and Sidharth Malhotra. Reportedly, Akshaye Khanna and Sunil Grover were also playing pivotal roles in it. Now as per a  ETimes report the film has been delayed once again.  The report adds, COVID-19 lockdown has caused the film to delay. It is also likely that the film migh be shelved. The film was supposed to be produced by Tarun Agarwal of Rajtaru Studios, in association with Eros International.

The original plan was to set the second part rolling was with Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor, but it was later being put in place with Saif Ali Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez headlining it. Post that, the film was again taken to Big B but with a new entrant-- Kartik Aaryan. The source was quoted saying to Times of India, "The stage for the second part of 'Aankhen' has often been set but some or the other issues crops up. Currently, it's all very fluid on the 'Aankhen 2' front. The shoot was supposed to begin on May 20, 2021. Of course, the current lockdown has turned the applecart of many films. But here, there's some other reason. This time out, it is still not clear why the film has been put at the back burner and it is even being thought that if and when it goes on floors, many of the actors who had confirmed and committed to it, at least in the beginning, might be changed. Actually, now it is most likely that a thriller will be made by these makers and Big B and Sidharth will be a part of it, but it will not have anything to do with 'Aankhen'." Eros International chose to not comment on this. Back in February, Amitabh Bachchan and Sidharth Malhotra were confirmed to star in Abhinay Deo’s ‘Aankhen 2.'
