Anil's Kapoor's film, AK vs AK sparks controversy, as IAF raises objection to actor's outfit and language

Indian Air Force has expressed objections against Anil Kapoor's upcoming netflix film, AK vs AK. The IAF is miffed at how Anil Kapoor ‘inaccurately’ wore the Air Force uniform in the movie, while using ‘inappropriate’ language. In the trailer, Anil is seen shooting for a film while wearing an Air Force officer’s costume. He then meets Anurag Kashyap, who tells him that he has just 10 hours to save his daughter Sonam Kapoor. Anil jumps through several hurdles, fights with Anurag and uses some swear words, while trying to find Sonam. The IAF has tweeted about the film, asking for the scenes to be removed.

“The IAF uniform in this video is inaccurately donned & the language used is inappropriate. This does not conform to the behavioural norms of those in the Armed Forces of India. The related scenes need to be withdrawn,” they wrote. Anil later took to Twitter to share a video, explaining his stance on the matter. He said in the video that it was never his or the makers’ intention to hurt anyone’s feelings. He explained how he plays a distraught actor in the film, wearing an IAF uniform while searching for his daughter. Netflix also responded saying, “Hon. @IAF_MCC, our intention would never be to disrespect the Armed Forces of India in any regard. AK Vs. AK is a film in which Anil Kapoor and his co-stars are playing themselves as actors.”In the film, Anil will be seen playing himself, and not an air force officer. The film is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, and slated to release on December 24.
