#BoycottBingo trends on Twitter after Ranveer Singh’s ad mentions ‘photon’, fans upset as they feel it mocks Sushant Singh Rajput

A new advertisement of Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has run into controversy. Bingo, a brand that sells chips and snacks, which has miffed fans of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Fans of Sushant Singh Rajput on Thursday slammed Bingo for their latest advertisement featuring Ranveer Singh and claimed that it is aimed at mocking the late actor. 

In the ad, Ranveer can be seen replying with a series of scientific terms to his relatives who keep asking what are his plans for the future. He says that such questions can be answered only by using a 'mad angle'. #BoycottBingo started trending on Twitter. SSR fans accused Ranveer of mocking Sushant in the advertisement. Ranveer Singh, appearing in the ad is asked a question: Beta, aage Kya Plan Hai? To which Singh’s character responds by talking about paradoxical photons, algorithms, and aliens. Fans of the late actor were upset that the use of words such as ‘photon’ and ‘paradox’ is an attempt mock Sushant and is a jibe at the late actor’s affinity to Science.

However, the ITC spokesperson issued a clarification saying, A completely false, erroneous and mischievous message is being posted/circulated alleging that an advertisement of Bingo! is making fun of a late Bollywood celebrity. Such kind of erroneous messages are knowingly spreading falsehoods. We request you to not fall prey to such mischievous posts. The recent Bingo! Advertisement was shot more than a year ago in October 2019. It is being aired this year because of delay in the launch of Bingo! Mad Angles Cheese Nachos and Bingo! Mad Angles Pizza due to the Covid-19 pandemic”.
