COVID-19: Best 90s desi shows you can binge watch amid lockdown

For those who are born in the 80s and the 90s, television was the prime source of entertainment. And watching those classic serials that aired on television we can never forget. The whole family would come together with to watch their favourite shows. So many fond memories are associated with those shows. But bigger than anything is the nostalgia of the entire family sitting and watching it together.

The coronavirus lockdown has brought everyone living together. So this time could be utilized to relive those warm memories by watching the 90s shows on Indian television.

Check out the list below:

Easily a classic now, ‘Dekh Bhai Dekh’ was a real hoot! Navin Nischol, Shekhar Suman, Farida Jalal and everyone else in the cast were memorable in their performance in this sitcom.

The show that gave us a peep into what life in senior secondary school will be like, ‘Hip Hip Hurray’ was one show that all teenagers related to.

A nagging wife, five dysfunctional daughters and a talking portrait of a dead wife – do you really need anything else to add to the comedy? Without a doubt, ‘Hum Paanch’ was one of the funniest sitcoms.

The Americans had ‘The Wonder Years’ and we Indians had ‘Just Mohabbat’. The coming of age of a young boy Jai and his relationship with his friends, family and even his imaginary friend Gautam used to get us glued to the TV in the 90s.

Tu Tu Main Main is a very interesting sitcom and completely challenges most shows of today as it depicts a bitter-sweet comedy relationship between mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law, a beautifully depicted relationship that most shows tend to vulgarise.
