"I was in ICU under oxygen support for four days": Harshvardhan Rane on his COVD-19 battle

Harshvardhan Rane, who will next be seen in ZEE5 original Taish was recently diagnosed with COVID-19. The actor took to his Twitter page and released a note regarding the same. He revealed that he got to know he is COVID-19 positive from his Arogya Setu app. However, the actor in his recent interview opened about his struggle with the illness. According to a Times of India report, the actor was on oxygen support in a serious condition. Speaking about the same he said, “I was on oxygen support in the ICU for four days. I feel bad that I couldn’t promote the film at all. In fact, I still feel weak. It started with a severe headache and a slight fever. When the headache didn’t subside even after four days, I went to a hospital, where they dismissed it as viral fever. However, they did a COVID-19 test, which turned out to be positive. When I didn’t get any relief from fever and headache even after two days, I went to the hospital once again, and they admitted me to the ICU immediately. It was only after eight days that my fever subsided aur headache kam hua.”

Harshvardhan said that  his film’s team was extremely worried about him. He shares, “Bejoy would check on me two-three times a day. It’s a strange coincidence that I had locked myself up for a week to prepare for my character in 'Taish'. And, when the trailer was launched, I was again in isolation, but for a different reason. I would continuously watch the teaser of the film and even messaged Bejoy, saying, ‘Dawai kaam nahi kar rahi hai, but aapka teaser is making me feel better’.” Ahead of the release of Taish, actor Harshvardhan Rane recalled dubbing for the teaser of the film while undergoing Covid treatment at a hospital in the city. It was not at all easy to dub there but I managed to do it using almost 12 blankets. When I asked for so many blankets my doctors got scared. They thought that I am feeling cold! I did not tell them that I needed the blankets for dubbing. I locked the room and told them that I'm changing. "I immediately made a cave using blankets and turned off the heart rate monitor as it was creating a lot of noise. I put my phone on airplane mode and started recording. (Director) Bejoy Nambiar sir was apologetic. He did not want me to dub from hospital. But, it was completely my choice. I did not want anyone to suffer due to me. I can do anything for work. Even if you tell me that I have to act from the hospital I will happily do it," Harshvardhan told IANS. Helmed by Bejoy Nambiar, "Taish", a revenge drama, also features Pulkit Samrat, Kriti Kharbanda, Jim Sarbh and Sanjeeda Shaikh. It will release on Zee5 on October 29 in film as well as web series format.
