India's Adline Castelino adjudged 3rd runner up at Miss Universe 2020 in Florida

At the grand finale of the 69th Miss Universe pageant, India's Adline Castelino was adjudged third runner up. The gorgeous beauty made it to the top 5 contestants along with Brazil, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and Peru. Strutting down the ramp earlier in the day, Adline looked stunning in a dazzling golden gown. She also won hearts in the national costume round as well as the bikini round. The 69th Miss Universe competition was held at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino - Hollywood, Florida. Adline’s National costume was inspired by the national flower of India, the Lotus, which symbolizes knowledge and spirituality.

Andrea Meza of Mexico was finally crowned Miss Universe for the year 2020. While Brazil's Julia Gama, 28, emerged the runner-up, Janick Maceta (27) from Peru finished second. Singer Luis Fonsi of 'Despacito' fame performed at the three-hour competition, hosted by Mario Lopez and Olivia Culpo. In an interview, talking about her dreams and being proud to represent India at Miss Universe platform, Adline Quadros Castelino said, "As a young girl growing up in Kuwait with no exposure, I would always look up to Miss Universe with so much awe but never imagined a girl like me who had a speech defect and had marks on her body could ever represent her country on such a prestigious platform." India has won 2 Miss Universe titles, Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000. India had last got a placement at Miss Universe pageant in the year 2001 with Celina Jailtly winning the fourth runner up position.
