Karan Johar has reportedly unfollowed Kartik Aaryan after his exit from Dostana 2. On Friday, it was reported that Kartik has been replaced in the sequel to Dostana, which is being produced by Karan’s Dharma Productions. The reason, however, has not been confirmed either by the producer or the actor. A statement was later issued by Dharma Productions which confirmed that they will be recasting for the film. However, the actor still follows the filmmaker on the popular photosharing app.  Earlier in the day, there were multiple reports doing the round that Kartik had been fired from the movie due to his “unprofessional behaviour”.

Sources close to Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions have confirmed that Kartik Aaryan did not allot any dates for the film after shooting for about 20 days, citing he is packed this entire year. However, it is being speculated that Kartik was not happy with the script and had creative differences with the director, therefore he left mid-way. After these reports went afloat, Karan reportedly unfollowed the actor on Instagram.  Kartik exiting the film, reports also suggest that the makers have gone to actor Rajkummar Rao, who was their first choice before pitching the idea to Kartik Aaryan. Rumours also added that Vicky Kaushal is also likely to be an option for them. Speculations are also rife that Karan has banned Kartik from Dharma Productions since the actor was acting difficult with the makers.  The film is already half shot and now it's going to be a challenge for the makers to reshoot it with a new actor who fits the part. In 2019, Karan Johar announced that he is taking the Dostana franchise forward with Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and debutant, Lakshya. It was helmed by Collin D Cunha, and went on floors by the end of 2019.
