According to a Pinkvilla report, the 60-year-old actor tried to climb up the staircase of an under construction building and fell down while doing so. When his family found him lying unconscious in a pool of blood, they called for ambulance service. However, he was reportedly declared dead by the para medics in the ambulance. The report further added that  the actor was practicing the self defense Krav Maga when the accident happened.

The late actor took up Krav Maga, the self-defence art developed by Israeli defence forces, at the age of 45, and soon became a sought-after instructor in the city. He even taught Krav Maga to the city's police force, serving as a police instructor for Krav Maga. He had also trained actors like Anurag Kashyap and Amala Paul for their films Imaikkaa Nodigal and Adho Andha Paravai Pola , respectively. Sreeram played the role of a widower who falls in love with a widow (played by Leela Samson) in one of the stories that formed Halitha Shameem's feel-good anthology, which release in 2019.  Sree Ram rose to fame after featuring in the popular Tamil anthology, Sillu Karupatti bankrolled by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment.
