Actor Rhea Chakraborty was taken to Mumbai's Byculla Jail this morning, a day after she was arrested on drug charges related to the Sushant Singh Rajput case. The Byculla jail is the only prison for women in Mumbai and currently has high-profile inmates including Sheena Bora murder accused Indrani Mukerjea and activist Sudha Bhardwaj, arrested in the Koregaon-Bhima case. Indrani has a huge following in the prison and, according to sources, she meets every new inmate when they are sent to the prison. After her entry, as per a India Today report, the jail doctor examined Rhea and checked her blood pressure, sugar levels and pulse. The check up revealed that Rhea was normal and there is no serious health related illness. She was allowed to rest after that and her bag was kept outside. Things that she needed were handed over to her in a small polythene bag. The bag contained a few pairs of clothes, dental kit and other everyday essentials.

The jail has around 6 barracks and in each barrack around 40 to 50 inmates are kept . These barracks are huge halls where space is allotted to each inmate. They are provided a thin quilt, a small pillow, one white bedsheet and a blanket. These have to be rolled on the floor while sleeping and, in the morning, these have to be rolled and kept on one side. Inmates are provided with small polythene bags in which they keep their belongings close to their bedrolls. The report further added, Rhea was provided lunch which included two chapatis, a bowl of rice, a bowl of dal and one sabzi. The jail also has a canteen from where inmates can buy biscuits and other daily need items. The court will hear her bail application today, earlier Rhea's lawyer  approached the sessions court for bail after Rhea's plea was rejected by the magistrate court. She was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in a drug case linked to the demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The actress was booked under section 27A which provides for punishment for financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders.
