"People will now not take pangas with hindu devi devta's: Mukesh Khanna reacts after Akshay Kumar's Laxmmi Bomb gets title change

Mukesh Khanna  of Shaktiman fame is quite outspoken who does not mince words will giving his opinion.  Earlier, he took a jibe at the makers of Akshay Kumar's Laxmmi Bomb for its title which is mired in controversies. However, after the film’s title was changed yesterday, Mukesh Khanna is happy now. According to him, it is a new beginning. In an exclusive interview with Zoom Digital, the actor opened up on Akshay’s film title change that happened after the film’s screening took place at CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification).

“I can definitely say that I am more than happy but more than me being happy, I am happy about the fact that this is the beginning of a good thing. People from here on will be careful while taking pangas with Hindu devi devtas. Jo unlogo ko easy lagta tha, soft target lagta tha that they can do anything. If I am not mistaken, there was a film named Sexy Durga, they even had the atrocity to fight out. They had defended the film saying in the film there is a character named Durga but Durga is also the name of our devi right,” he said. Talking about Akshay’s film, the veteran actor added, “Laxmi is our devi and if you are adding Bomb it is intentional. It was only yesterday when I was thinking ki film ka naam Laxmii hi rakho toh what is wrong. This not only my victory but the victory of social media. It is a victory of crores of Indians whose strength has increased after the Sushant Singh Rajput murder case.

The digital medium has reached to place where changes can be made, which used to not happen earlier.” The actor, who is also famous for playing Bhishma Pitamah in Mahabharat, said that he took a stand against the title at the cost of his relation getting spoilt with Akshay Kumar. “I took a stance at the cost of my relation getting spoilt with Akshay Kumar, with whom I shared very good relations. I have done six films with him. In fact, his introductory film Saugandh was with me. I was thinking let him feel bad. At the expense of him feeling bad, I am happy that better sense prevailed. And they thought it rightly. The film will work on basis of its content, title se toh log sirf theatre mein ghuste hai. After that it is you, your content and if you are confident then why are you taking cheap measures of giving an intentionally provocative title. Even Tom, Dick and Harry can understand that Laxmmi Bomb kehne se kya intention hai,” he said. The film is a a remake of the 2011 Tamil film, Kanchana, which was also directed by Lawrence. Laxmmi marks his Hindi directorial debut. The film is set to premiere on Nov 9 on Disney+ Hotstar VIP and is produced by Cape of Good Films, Tusshar Entertainment House and Shabinaa Entertainment
