Poonam Pandey arrested by Goa Police after her nude video sparks controversy

Controversy queen Poonam Pandey was detained in Goa on Thursday. Poonam was held by Calangute police and will be handed over to Canacona police officials. This comes a day after the women’s wing of Goa Forward Party filed a complaint against Poonam Pandey for shooting an indecent video at the Chapoli Dam in Canacona. An FIR was also registered against an unknown person for recording the video featuring Poonam. Photos from the provocative shoot featuring Poonam, held at the Chapoli dam in Canacona sub district, had gone viral earlier this week, which sparked protests in the area. Opposition party members staging a protest on Thursday, demanding action against police officials permitting the shoot.

The protestors had threatened to close down the town of Canacona for a day, while demanding action for the alleged dereliction of duty on part of the police. "Police inspector in-charge of the Canacona police station Tukaram Chavan has been suspended," Deputy Superintendent of Police Nelson Albuquerque told the protestors in Canacona. Last night, Poonam shared a picture with husband Sam Bombay as they celebrated their first Karwa Chauth post marriage. The picture was posted after she was booked for the controversy. She had earlier filed a police complaint in Goa against Sam, claiming he had molested, threatened and assaulted her. He was later granted bail on a surety of Rs. 20,000. Talking about Poonam, she is a social media star and has acted in films like Nasha, The Journey of Karma and Malini.
