Uttarakhand Glacier burst leaves Anushka Sharma devastated, actress offers condolences

A massive operation has been on since last night to rescue some 39 people believed to be trapped inside a tunnel after a glacier burst in Uttarakhand on Sunday caused flash floods that left 18 dead and over 200 missing. The disaster has shocked everyone in the country and even made many celebrities express their grief on social media. Now, Anushka Sharma took to her Instagram story to express her sincere condolences to the families of the victims. In her post, the actress said she is heartbroken to see the loss caused by glacier burst. The Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi actress shared a story of a news article and wrote, “My prayers for the safety of all those who are affected by flash floods at Uttarakhand. Heartbroken to see the loss caused by it! Sincere condolences to the families of the victims.” 

A host of South celebrities including Mahesh Babu, Samantha Akkineni and Hansika Motwani have also expressed their concern for those affected by flash floods.Dia Mirza, who has been vocal about environmental issues, tweeted that the tragedy is a result of excessive dam construction in the Himalayas. Ajay Devgn wondered if the burst is an indication of environmental damage that the world is yet to see. “Is it our worst fears on climate extremes that are closing in on us? My thoughts & prayers are with the people of #Uttarakhand at this crucial hour,” he tweeted.Taapsee Pannu called the disaster nature’s revenge on human beings for “toying” with it. “Man induced disasters. Hurtful to watch this. Nature is getting back at us for toying with it. #UttarakhandDisaster,” she tweeted. Shruti Seth warned people to not “mess” with nature. “Don’t mess with nature. #UttarakhandGlacialBurst.”
