Andhra registers 5k more Covid cases, tally 7.2 lakh

Amaravati, Oct 6 Andhra Pradesh has registered 5,795 new Covid-19 positive cases, increasing the state's tally to 7.2 lakh, even as 6,046 more recoveries outnumbered new cases on Tuesday.

Chittoor beat East Godavari district to report the highest number of cases - 970, raising the district's tally to 66,555.

Among other places, East Godavari accounted for 801 infections, followed by West Godavari (696), Prakasam (580), Krishna (482), Nellore (451), Guntur (441) and Kadapa (434).

Meanwhile, 33 more patients succumbed to the virus, swelling the statewide toll to 6,052.

As usual, 6,046 recoveries outnumbered infections, resulting in total recoveries rising to 6.7 lakh.

Of the 7.2 lakh cases, active cases declined to 50,776.
