Wearing double mask reduces chances of getting COVID-19 by 96.4%, experts speak amid raging second wave

It's been more than a year since the deadly coronavirus wreaked havoc in our country, and even after several efforts to contain the spread of it, the second wave of the virus is currently spreading like wildfire in the nation.

The increase in the intensity of the pandemic has led Covid-19 to spread at a rapid pace in the second wave. The second wave is said to be more dangerous than the first. Covid-19 appropriate practices, safety norms, prevention measures, and most importantly testing have to be implemented more efficiently, medical facilities have to be ramped up and vaccination has to be done in order to fight the second wave more quickly. 

People should must wear a mask, maintaining social distancing, wash hands and sanitize. When using a mask, it is more protective if you are earing a double mask, say medical experts. Wearing a double mask during difficult times increases protection against the virus and reduces the chances of contracting the virus, recent research at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has shown that, if each person wears a double mask, the chances of contracting covid can be reduced by 96.4%. Therefore, double mask is useful, said Dr. Kirti Sabnis, Infectious Diseases Specialist.

When a person wears one mask over another, it is called wearing a double mask. The outer mask can seal well by applying gentle pressure on the corners of the inner mask. This double layer of the mask can help increase filtration as the virus spreads through droplets exiting the respiratory tract. Can protect a person from sneezing or coughing.
